Interview with John Leongard
When I was studying photography at Sydney Technical College and working at News Limited as a Cadet photographer in the early 1980s John was the picture editor of Life Magazine. Certainly the world of journalism photography has changed a lot since then although Johns advise rings just as true today as then. I found the article useful despite not being a picture editor myself.
Michael, this is wonderful stuff…should be required reading for every photo editor and aspiring photo editor.
Yes Rob at least as an aspiration. Good for a pictured editor in the making. I also
found it helpful as a photographer.
This is a fantastic read, so positive and refreshing. I wish there were more John Leongards! Such an ethical approach to picture editing.
